Short church history

Northcote Baptist church was established in 1906 and for many years enjoyed growth, vitality and much success. Yet throughout the second half of the 20th century the church struggled with declining numbers.
Then in the early 1990's a partnership with a Chinese fellowship breathed new life and growth into the church as it developed ministries to cater for both English and Chinese speaking audiences. The church today is committed to doing all things for the glory of God and is a diverse multigenerational international community.

The church presently employs three pastoral staff:

 

Robert Martin
English speaking Pastor.

Robert is the pastor of the English-speaking congregation. He formerly worked with City Bible Forum helping workers in their life and witness in the workplace. For many years he also hosted the popular radio show and podcast, Bigger Questions. He enjoys living in inner-north Melbourne and is married to Di and they have three children. He also loves eating in cafes in the inner north, running the Parkrun each week and he experiences of the sufferings of this world by following the trials and tribulations of Everton, the English football team he supports.

Bob Zheng has graduated from Melbourne School of Theology, Master of Divinity. He is married to Mary and has one child. He was an oncologist for many years. Bob serves in the Chinese congregation and assists with pastoral care and preaching.
